This is a shot in the dark, but I figure it's worth a try -- over the
weekend, my RH5 system stopped recognizing its cd-rom:
[root@fred /root]# mount /mnt/cdrom
mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device
I've checked my physical connections, they're fine. The cd-rom is
getting power and ther

Mine worked without any tinkering. Make sure that it is not a winmodem and
that the jumper setting on the card is set is the same as the irq used by
/dev/ttyS0.

When I run ./Configure, I get undefined references with libnet.so (libnet.so
is a file from the package 'kaffe').
I updated kaffe to the latest version (in fact I upgraded all the RPMs from
RedHat's site).
Does anyone know what's causing the problem?
Urgent help needed

Help: I have been trying to install a POP3 server on a Red Hat Linux 4.2
machine and seem to be missing the following functions pw_auth,
pw_encrypt and spw_unpack, can anyone tell me on which library they
usually are?
Thanks for any help.

Does anyone have the internal version of this modem working?
I checked Red Hat's compatibility listing and it says PNP modems do not
work. Is this true even if I have PNP disabled in my BIOS?
I've installed the modem and it works with Windows on COM2 and COM4. When
it was on COM2, I disabled my

Interesting, this tells me you are trying to have lilo work with a
partition that is too big. The Linux boot partition can't be any bigger
than 1024 cylinders
I know of a fix for this error in Windows, but I'm not sure it will work
with Linux. Let me know if you want to try it because you'll probably lose
all you mail...or at least it will be difficult to read it...
