Don't forget about Quantum drives. I used about 50 of these in the last
4-5 years, only two failed, one of these was dropped down the steps...
Currently I have a 1.2G Fireball TM (~2yrs old) and a 4.3G Fireball ST
(1/2yrs old) in my personal machine. These are both IDE drives, work
very reliably and MUCH faster than the 1.2G Seagate in the same machine.
The 4.3G is pretty silent too.
As for WD drives, I have only one of these. A 210M from something like
1991. It's up 24/7 without problems since then. Can't comment on more
recent models :)
