Does anyone have the internal version of this modem working?

I checked Red Hat's compatibility listing and it says PNP modems do not
work. Is this true even if I have PNP disabled in my BIOS?

I've installed the modem and it works with Windows on COM2 and COM4. When
it was on COM2, I disabled my com2 port in my BIOS and Linux still
couldn't see it. I have an external modem that does work, so it's not a
permissions problem. PPP or minicom don't work with this internal modem
when its set to COM2 or COM4.

I did verify that windows was setting the IRQ's and address to match the
com port's settings. I have heard of winmodems, but I don't know if this
is one. So I'm not sure if this is a PNP problem or a winmodem problem.

Any suggestions on 56K modems that do work with Red Hat. The modem I have
came from my work, but I can get them to buy a different one.

Thanks,
Steve
