Vicki, did you partition with linux fdisk or with Disk Druid? I've had
problems getting disk druid to work properly with larger disks; this was
solved by going back to fdisk.

What you're reporting sounds as if Linux/LILO isn't recognizing the LBA
addressing for your drive. This drive is small enough that you shouldn't be
facing that problem.

LBA starts to poop out around 8Gb. My IBM 8.7Gb drive, with LBA in effect, is
perceived by fdisk & LILO both as having CHS of 255 heads, 63 sectors, and
1107 cylinders. Your 6.4Gb drive should be perceived as having arount 255
heads, 63 sectors, and

As far as Win 95 goes, I believe that, unless you're using a boot loader, such
as the OS/2-Partition Magic one or System Commander, Win 95 expects to be
installed to the first partition on the first drive. With a boot
loader/manager it still must be on a primary partition on the first drive to
boot. (ref Partition Magic v3.0 User Guide). Linux isn't so fussy; it can be
on an extended partition. If it's not on the first or second physical drive
you need to play tricks on lilo to get it to work, but as I recall, it can be
done.

If you didn't use linux fdisk to partition your drive, I'd suggest that you
use DOS/Win 95 fdisk to partition the drive, and create a first partition that
is the size you want to use for Win 95. Leave the rest of the drive unused.
Then use your boot floppies from 5.0, run fdisk, and complete the partitioning
by dividing up the space on the rest of the drive.

Another alternative, highly recommended (by me, anyhow 8^)) is to get &
install Partition Magic and install/use the Boot Manager which comes with it.
This will make booting very easy, and won't be dependent on what's installed
in your MBR.

Best
