Redhat 4.2 kernel. During "make menuconfig", I set:
IRQ = 5
DMA = 1, 5
I/O: 220
The rest of 'make' went well. However, when I try to
"insmod sound" after a reboot with the new kernel,

Sorry to interrupt your conversation.
But I got the same error message during RedHat5.0 booting.
Not only that, immediately follows nfs initialization is the amd
initialization. My RedHat5.0 booting get stucked at amd for about
2.5 minutes, then it continues (after a similar error message)
I recently got Linux 4.2 Biltmore, but was forced to install it on hdd.
Since LILO cannot boot from there, and reconnecting my drives is not a
feasable alternative, I decided to use Loadlin. Strangely, it freezes every
time I try to boot. Can someone tell me what files I need to run it and

This means you are in fact running your old kernel...I believe it's possible
that your running your old kernel even if you copied your new one on top,
and therefore, your old one no longer exists (at least as a file entry.)

all the installations I have done have come directly off of a Jaz
cartridge. I then manually remount the drive later if I need to add
packages or what not. This way, I only need one drive for several

trying to access the drive from a crontab entry. I have tried accessing

Try to run the sndconfig and you will see if it was accepted, if it
doesn't work you should know the irq, dma, io address to put them manually
in the same programa but starting like this: sndconfig --noprobe

I woke up to some strange problems with my linux box. I have a feeling
there are a couple of simultaneous and unrelated problems (murphy's law)
so I don't know where to start :)
The machine multi boots (with boot manager) 95, OS/2 and RH4.2. It
spends most of the time in RH, in fact was up

I have a 10 Mbit PCI Adapter from Legato Systems with the RP-1651W
Serie.
It has a UTP connector and a COAX conector.
I only had a SCO Unix driver with this card.
It should be NE2000 compatible,but the Linux driver in Red Hat Linux
By "cheaper" I didn't mean "free". If my company begins to use
StarOffice, we will pay for it.
I believe that an OS should be free. But applications have not. Freeware
is fine, but if an application is worth its price, its editors and
developers should be paid for their work.
