Hi...
I've managed to fix my box and all is back as it should be. I was a
little surprised that all the reboot, and apparently the fsck problems
were all caused by my damaged ifcfg-lo file. The changed tag in the
partition table seems to have done no harm... But why are there always
TWO problems at once! :)
The question is why? I would guess that netcfg did this to the ifscfg-lo
file out of the blue? I'm using kppp now for my net link while I figure
this out... anyway kppp is nice and simple for that job anyway.
And the partition table thing... Is it possible for fstool to do this? I
normally just edit fstab by hand, but I did run fstool a few days ago
and it complained about a missing hpfs partition. I didn't take much
notice at the time, but now I wonder?
It worries me what OS/2 might have done to my /usr/local partition had I
booted it :) Mind you, OS/2 has never quite recovered from my attempt
to make one of my msdos partitions a WINE 'boot' drive :-?
Anyway. It took me most of the day, but I know RH that little bit better
:)
cheers,
tim
