Win98 has that built in as a feature for any display, but for 95/NT has to
come from the display manufacturer.
Meanwhile:
Got a new Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 card with 4 mb video ram, installed it in
my machine, now I can't get x to start. I'm new to linux, running 5.0,
have a fresh install. Any immediate suggestions? Where I should start
troubleshooting? I have noticed that as the machine boots up I get message
saying "unknown pci device" -- currently installed in the machine:
Cyrix P200L 6x86
64 Mb ram
Adaptec 2940UW with attached pd-cd writer, archive python 4mm dat driv and
external iomega jaz drive (no problems recognizing the card or peripherals)
3 x Western Digital caviar 22500 ide drives
SMC EtherEZ ethernet card (ISA)
I'm lost and don't know enough about X yet to get it to work. I've played
a lot with the refresh rates, etc., doublechecked that I am using the same
refresh settings under NT (I am and it works). Any suggestions would be
appreciated.
