As the discussion and tests in bug #66104 shows, what Wenzhuo
experienced is a probably a well known (at least among input method
people) bug. This bug usually shows up when user uses XIM (therefore
using other GTK or Qt IM module seems to make this bug disappear), and
is not restricted in GNOME.

side, the changes in Debian packaging of texlive are for the following
reasons:
1. Make sure that texlive and tetex can co-exist. This mean that any
extra TeX packages can use either tetex or texlive as their base.

Thanks for reporting.
I can confirm this bug (although only on a Debian machine now). However
the PNG file for the icon indeed has transparent background, so this has
something to do with the way scim uses the notification area. I
actually remember seeing similar things in KDE as well in dapper
Note that scim doesn't has a panel applet per se, it just uses the
notification area applet provided by the desktop environment. I changed

After edgy installation, I left the "deb cdrom:..." line in my
/etc/apt/sources.list, on top of other repositories.
I didn't notice what adept manager say when I did "Fetch Updates", but

scim-uim is also uninstallable in Debian, and a simple rebuild should
fix this. I am currently investigating, and expect me to solve this bug
soon.

No, this is not the same bug as bug #66104, although related.
This bug only happens when "/FrontEnd/X11/Dynamic" is set to true, and
#66104 only happens when it is set to false.

I edited the title. I thought this is the same bug as the one reported
in Debian about deadkeys
To be honest, I am not sure plainly adding python-numeric-ext as
dependency is the best solution. Maybe the import error can be handled
more gracefully and make python-numeric-ext just a Recommends.
I also think the Debian maintainer should be consulted before we try fix
this bug with out own pat
ut since I have never worked on the help.ubuntu.com documentation, I
won't change it myself, and leave the decision to someone who can make
better judgement.
