What "single dependency" do you think should be fixed here? r-base depending on r-recommended? r-recommended depending on r-cran-mgcv? r-cran-mgcv depending on ATLAS/BLAS? Anyway, I don't know if we have an R expert among MOTUs, the better people to ask for this kind of fix probably are the Debian R package maintainers.
