There are a number of reasons:
1. DHCP not running/enabled.
2. Is the machine physicall connected at both ends (plugged in securely to

3. Did you set up or migrate networking during the update from RH8 to RH9?
4. Run ifconfig to see if you get any output for eth0.

I have RH7.3 installed from downloaded ISO images.
The system is basically web server with PHP and MySQL.
Right after the installation the system works fine.
After several days of usage after reboot the system hangs during bringing up

My bad...it should have been "insmod 8139too" or, even better, "modprobe
8139too"
That's the command to actually load the module into the running kernel.

Did you try:
insmod 8139too.o
and then add:
alias eth0 8139too

Your system is set to get the IP via DHCP. The system can't find a DHCP
server.
You'll want to edit /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, and chagne
"BOOTPROTO=" from dhcp to none.
Then, you're going to want to set the IPADDR, and NETMASK fields to the

7.2 is working "fine" but during the boot time it fail
to activate the interface eth0. I see this message:
"Activating interfaz eth0..(it looks for something during almost 1
minute)Determining the information IP for eth0 FAILED". Then the
