Gihas:
My name is Tony Caskey. I am rather new to Linux, but if your ethernet card
is attached to an ADSL modem, perhaps I can help you. With the help of a
Mr. Neil Ablong of the Philipines, I figured out how to get eth0 and pppOe
going not long ago.
For the ethernet device, I set it up to activate device when computer
starts, allow users to enable and disable the device, and automatically
obtain IP address settings with dialup.
For the XDSL configuration, I set it up to activate when the computer
starts, allow all users to enable and disable the device, and statically set
the IP addresses.
For the DNS tab, I set the primary and secondary DNS.
After setting things up this way for these three areas and rebooting the
machine, it worked. I can't tell you why, and maybe I set it up
incorrectly. But I can connect to the internet.
Many thanks.
Tony
