Thank you friends for your reply.

The system having two ethernet (178.1.222.11 & 178.1.221.1) hostname is np. I can
reach np from clients. But I am unable to ping the two IPs from np. I am trying to
configure np as a proxy & firewall server. This my first trial. So if I asked silly
questions please dont mind.

Is there is a cable problem, then I will not get connected from clients. All the
systems are in a same switch and netmask is 255.255.255.0.

Looking for your advice.

Ensure that u have connected the wires properly, if u have connected 2 machines via
the medium of Switch, be sure that you use cross cables and
not same cables.

What I have to do further ?

Stop posting in HTML for starters, then let us know what you mean that you
can't ping the NICs.

You're trying to ping from another machine on the network and they are on
the same subnet?

Have you disabled your firewall?
