Hi all,
I have used mii-tool from net-tools in Redhat 8.0 to set the link speed and duplex setting for the eth0 interface card.
Used the following command :
mii-tool -F 100baseTx-FD eth0 (and verified the settings using) mii-tool -v eth0
I have restarted and tested that the settings are permanent on the system .. .. Surprisingly the setting changed back to auto-negotiation mode after few days, and in auto mode its detecting half-duplex and the performance of the system is going downnnn.... and the same happened for not one or two systems but for more than 100 systems.....in my LAN.
Any suggestion on how to make this this settings permanent.....
I understand making this setting in the system startup would be better idea but any other suggestions, which will help in resolving the problem...........
ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR THIS..............
Am using redhat linux 8.0 (kernel version 2.4.18-14) and the ethernet network card driver is intel pro100b
Thanks in advance..
Regards
AL
