i have a yamaha ds-xg audio codec sound card but i havent been able to use
it with my linux box. however it works well with win98 i have on the same
machine. any suggestions as to how i can configure sound for my box.

I tried to upgrade my ucm-snmp package. It requires several other packages.
One is glibc.2.1.3-15. I have RH 6.1 with glibc-2.1.1-6.
Is it OK to upgrade this with rpm -Uva ?
Any gotchas. It's on a live system I don't want to crash.

Apparently, Red Hat likes to remove things, too. I've been having the
damnedest time trying to install RH 6.2 on Dell Pricision workstations that
have Ultra66 controllers. The RH install fails even though the kernel should
support Ultra66 disk controllers. I get the unadultered kernel from kerl.or
Just from the sheer number of errors, I would reinstall the OS. Your data
should be safe, as long as you're careful not to format or otherwise destroy
the existing file system. But someone else may give you better advice. I'm
more the quick-and-dirty-fix type. :)
