Just from the sheer number of errors, I would reinstall the OS. Your data
should be safe, as long as you're careful not to format or otherwise destroy
the existing file system. But someone else may give you better advice. I'm
more the quick-and-dirty-fix type. :)

But good luck to you!

Subject: NFS,RPC problems...

Hello all,

I made the "mistake" of running slocate and it somehow corrupted my
installation of Redhat 6.0. I was unable to login. I finally pressed the
reset button. Upon reboot I had to use fsck manually and correct numerous
filesystem errors. A subsequent reboot produced the following problems:

May 22 08:08:18 linus kernel: neighbour table overflow
May 22 08:08:18 linus rpc.statd: Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to
send; errno =
No buffer space available
May 22 08:08:18 linus nfs: rpc.statd startup succeeded
May 22 08:08:18 linus rpc.statd[405]: unable to register (SM_PROG, SM_VERS,
udp).
May 22 08:08:18 linus kernel: neighbour table overflow
May 22 08:08:18 linus last message repeated 2 times
May 22 08:08:18 linus rpc.rquotad: Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to
send; errno =
No buffer space available
May 22 08:08:18 linus rquota[415]: unable to register (RQUOTAPROG,
RQUOTAVERS, udp).
May 22 08:08:18 linus nfs: rpc.rquotad startup failed
May 22 08:08:18 linus kernel: neighbour table overflow

May 22 08:08:18 linus rpc.mountd: Cannot register service: RPC: Unable to
send; errno =
No buffer space available
May 22 08:08:18 linus mountd[425]: unable to register (mountd, 1, udp).
May 22 08:08:18 linus rpc.mountd: mountd: unable to register (mountd, 1,
udp).
May 22 08:08:18 linus nfs: rpc.mountd startup failed
May 22 08:08:19 linus kernel: Installing knfsd (copyright (C) 1996
[EMAIL PROTECTED]).
May 22 08:09:09 linus kernel: portmap: server localhost not responding,
timed out
May 22 08:10:49 linus rpc.nfsd: nfssvc: Input/output error
May 22 08:10:49 linus nfs: rpc.nfsd startup failed

Any ideas how I might correct these problems?
Thanks,

-Tom
