[Bug 389175] [NEW] transmission marks utorrent peers as non-downloadable
Public bug reported: using transmission to download large file (15GB) with a number of peers and seeders online. I find that all seeders using uTorrent 1.8.2 are marked with 'd' for would download if allowed. If I move over to my kubuntu 8.04 system and use ktorrent, the same sites will be shown as downloadable and segments will download. I'm 3 days into a download, so don't want to start over. Is there some set of parameters that I am not setting correctly to allow transmission to connect to and download from systems running uTorrent 1.8.2? I'm using unmodified version of transmission with all the default settings except that I have resricted uploads to 2KB/s to up the download rate. thanks in advance, chuck p.s. as download progresses number of peers and seeders drops and if I pause and restart the file the number of peers and seeders comes back to a larger number. Seems to be a performance issue IMHO. But what do I know? ciao. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- transmission marks utorrent peers as non-downloadable https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/389175 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Jean, I tried the above. With steps in part 1 with sudo apt-get the install gets an error message about a "corrupted filesystem tarfile". Since, nvidia-glx-new works on the 32-bit version (i386) of 8.04 and not the amd64, I am thinking that it is a problem with the /usr/lib32 missing modules.. [Bug 223526] [NEW] nvidia-glx-new from bug #222270
Public bug reported: Couldn't find 70 in bugzilla. After todays report and emails, the problem with bzip2 and corrupted files seems to be fixed. Now Adept Batch does download and install nvidia-glx-new. Upon reboot, X server comes up with black screen and the X symbol then disappears and system goes back to terminal mode. Shows system startup up until /etc/rc.local is done (it does an exit 0) and the system seems to be in a loop seeming to start X and fail and restarts I did a reboot with system recovery and /etc/X11/xorg.conf looks to be exactly as that in another system (amd64) that is running a daily-live from April 10. uname -a gives Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008 x86_64 time stamp. xorg.conf are exactly the same in both systems. For failed system, esc to get to grub and do a system option to reset X11 and system goes back to the low resolution display. Looks like problem is almost fixed, but not quite. Adam, Thanks for the email. For both beta 8.04 and the daily build from last night (March 28) upon install 'gcc' is indeed loaded by default. I have not done an install of gcc by any means, I promise. :-) which gcc returns /usr/bin/gcc and a compile of a test program with #include returns an error that stdio.h is not found, since libc6-dev is not installed. I think that gcc and libc6-dev should be installed by default, since there is a high probability that users of Linux will either develop code (such as myself) or possibly add packages from other sources that require the use of gcc. But the decision is up to you and the team. Just announce the standard disposition of gcc and we'll do the rest. went to another system, amd64 x 2, and installed March 27, 2008 daily- live. Here is what I did to get sox up and running: sudo apt-get install gcc libc6 libc6-dev linux-libc-dev libsndfile1 libsndfile1-dev sudo apt-get install libgsm1 libgsm1-dev libflac-dev libogg-dev pkg-config sudo apt-get install g++ gfortran alsa-oss liblame-dev libvorbis-dev wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/sox/sox-14.0.1.tar.gz tar xvzf sox-14.0.1.tar.gz cd sox-14.0.1 ./configure make sudo make install cd src ./tests.sh and all the output from the tests.sh shows ok there is another ./testall.sh but it doesn't give enough information to determine if it is testing anything of importance. The new sox is installed in /usr/local/bin/ and runs everything that I used to do in the kubuntu 7.10 system, so my guess is that it is running as advertised. after i posted, i figured out how to check on bash instead of cp. the for loop for i in old/[a-z]* is returning all the filenames, not just the ones that start with lower case letters.. bad bad bad behaviour IMHO thanks, Chuck -- cp in 8.04 is not case sensitive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I went to the web page above to download the package as they say to not use the package that you distribute. Guess they don't trust you. How about an install script with the above to go and get the 1020 driver. The system detected the printer and did everything else. I'll file a bug report to have libc6-dev installed automatically with the system as gcc is installed, but without the headers it is useless. I'd have thought the development group would jump up and down about this oversite.... :-) ciao dude, Chuck Adams, PhD -- Chuck Adams, K7QO [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.k7qo.net/ Moving to Arizona? [Bug 415472] Re: Broadcom 43xx wifi not working in Kubuntu Karmic alpha 4
Using lenovo s10 netbook. Has Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g (rev 01) hardware for wifi. Install karmic-netbook-remix iso for today oct 18, 2009 dated 03:05 o passed disc test on thumb drive o runs live without showing wifi o do an install tried each of the following as recommended by several Internet finds using google.com 1. sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source shutdown system reboot still shows no wifi interface sudo apt-get install --reinstall-kernel-source (this recommended at one site as a fix) reboot and still no wifi 2. went to http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php downloaded README.txt and tarball for 32-bit drivers a. first ran lsmod | grep "b43\|ssb\}wl" and got several listings with b43 and ssb (no wl) did the rmmod b43 and rmmod ssb b. sudo echo "blacklist ssb" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf(BTW I had to sudo chmod 777 to get this to work) was getting permission denied even though rwx for root allowed --- strange IMHO sudo echo "blacklist b43" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf upon rebooting system later ssb is still shown by lsmod and check shows that PPID of init (PID 1) uses it. c. sudo apt-get install build-essential (via eth0) d. make sudo make install these two steps for broadcom source using Makefile they provide e. shutdown f. reboot and still not wifi g. sudo depmod sudo modprobe wl still no wifi I am sorry that I can not provide more info as this is not my area of expertise, but I do follow instructions.
