I have both gnuplot-nox and gnuplot-x11 installed. It is some problem with set terminal epslatex and then using splot to create a 3D image. I found one of the sample programs that worked. Looks like you have to do a set output to create the image. I'm working on it. The documentation is needing some examples with images in it instead of the demos showing everything.... IMHO.
