Hi there, VMware here...
We're able to repro this and have the following temporary workaround while we
figure out who's code needs adjusting:
We are able to boot by adding:
acpi=force
to: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
in: /etc/default/grub
Such that the full line reads:
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT
@sokolov--I also have a Dell printer & I think I have fixed the problem
by adding that AllowExpiredCerts option that @Nyyr mentioned, via the
GUI settings dialog. As I recall the steps were:
settings -> printers -> Additional Printer settings
right-click on affected printer (for me Dell_Color_MFP

I built the pam module according to the instructions here:

Hello,
I'm experiencing the exact same performance issue described in this

When using side-by-side window arrangement, I experienced significant system

Is any of you using the "_netdev" mount parameter in /etc/fstab?
This thread indicates that should avoid the delay during boot:

I'm seeing the same error message with a Drobo (large external disk

Some info that might help to diagnose the problem:
- My kernel is 2.6.28-11-server #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Apr 17 02:48:10 UTC 2009
- I did not see this error with previous kernels.

simply do not show up when mounted during boot. Unmounting and mounting

I had the same problem with distribution 9.04 on a fresh install.
The ACPI never worked out of the box with my 3 years old laptop.
I never managed to get the computer going to sleep when I shut the panel
