I am also facing the same problem. My DVD writer just refuses to mount any disk on Mint 9 Isadora. Disk utility says that no media is detected. However eject command works perfectly. The drive was working flawlessly just a few days ago before I updated the system. Upgrading the kernel didn't work. Please let me know if i need to post any reports with some hints as to how to generate these(I am a noob).
