I get loud beeps. Then when the screen comes back, I get the screen
saver login prompt, and when I unlock the screen I get a popup in the
notification area saying hibernation failed. But hibernation actually
seems to work fine.

On one of my home machines this crash affects my wife's account but not
mine. Any application which uses GNOME file dialogs will crash when she
accesses a file dialog -- open or save. Observed with gnome, gaim, gimp,
openoffice.org. Workaround for the last one is to use OOO's

in Ubuntu but is configured by Mandriva by default. (We switched

My first impression when reading #17 was that it shouldn't be necessary
to use system mode for PulseAudio to get mpd to work right. In Jaunty I
had it working as desired without changing /etc/default/pulseaudio. The

The user experience leaves a lot to be desired. At extensions.gnome.org
it shows as an extension which can be disabled and has updates. When I
turn it off, it doesn't turn off, and when I try to update it, it says I
can't update it because it is not turned off. Other extensions don't
work that way.
Users switching from Unity to GNOME... or from almost any other
environment to GNOME... are going to find the current panel arrangement
inconvenient. I am not used to moving the mouse all the way to the far
edge of the other monitor when I want to log out, or suspend, or adjust

Upon initially booting either 4.13.11 or 4.14.0 I see 1 in active_count for
ACAD, and zeros elsewhere. When 4.14.0 has immediately resumed from suspend and

Confirmed: typing this on my second screen, connected via VGA, after
cherry-picking the commit I linked to in #28. Without that commit the
second screen was recognized but remained dark while connected to the
VGA port of my Kaveri-based desktop. Same monitor had been fine when

I too have a Dell laptop upgraded from 11.04. Not sure if the behavior I
am seeing is related though. In 11.04, Unity was working fairly well. In
11.10 it does not start at login-- instead I get a Nautilus menu. If I
switch to a virtual terminal and run "unity --replace" and then switch
back to X,

On my Inspiron 1545, hibernate / resume work much better in Natty--
better than Maverick, and probably also better than Lucid. Resume from
hibernate in particular is much faster and smoother than it has ever
been. Time required to hibernate is also quite reasonable. Maverick

Still a problem in Maverick. As in previous releases it seems to be a
problem only when Visual Effects are turned on. I have been leaving them
off for a couple years or so as a workaround for this issue.
Unfortunately Maverick has another issue for which there is a workaround
of turning visual effe
Hmm... looks like both issues also affect "ssvncviewer", which binds
FullScreen toggle to F9.

popup menu, or through a dedicated F9 key binding. Using the F8 popup menu
seems to work fine. Using F9 repeatedly

Booted my Karmic install to confirm that it still works. It does, but I
misremembered the java version in that install... it's actually 6-06.

Still happens on 21.10's 5.13.16-051316-generic with a fairly new HP
Pavilion 15. The workaround from Arch doesn't quite help -- internal
monitor did work after that but external display is not detected.

Tried some recent mainline kernels again. No luck with 5.13.19, but
5.14.13 is using both displays just fine. (Earlier I had tried 5.14.3
with no luck.)
