It still works, but I'm finding myself confused about the cause. Just wanted to mention that I did not upgrade from dapper to edgy on the same partition... it was a fresh install on a partition that used to contain a different distribution which I used before dapper. (Yes, edgy's installer reformatted that partition.) Both dapper and edgy installs share the same swap partition, but I don't think I had hibernated dapper recently before the install, and I don't think I had the symptoms of other people with the upgrade issue, in that I think my swap partition was probably actually being used for swap. (Only 512MB RAM on this machine.) Also, the fact that I could ssh to the machine makes me think it mostly was resuming OK except for some detail related to the display.
Might there be some other bug in the installer that got corrected or worked around when I added the feisty kernel? -- eMachines m6805: vbetool fails to restore from hibernate in edgy (ok in dapper) https://launchpad.net/bugs/75177 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
