Most likely you have APM version 1.3 in your BIOS, which the kernel
included in redhat doesn't support. One choice would be to recompile the
kernel with acpi support.

There is something a bit strange going on lately with my system, I
wonder if somebody has seen something similar. When I shut down the
computer it does all it needs to do to safely shutdown the system: kill
signals, services and so on but it will not completely turn off the
power!
I have installed on my linux box the glibc-2.3.2-4.80.6 version, and I'd
like to go back to glibc-2.2.4-31. However, when I try to install it
using rpm I get all kind of errors. Is there a way to unistall the newer
version and go back to the previous one without compromising anything?
