Nevermind on this issue. I ended up not using the crappy X httpdconf configurator. I instead just vi’d the httpd.conf and setup everything that way. After doing so I fixed both my problems. I guess I just needed a fresh start today for it to all come back to me. =) Thanks again, and maybe next time I will have a better issue.

Well I am diving back into Linux again. I spent a couple years away from it and as such am having a very hard time with 2 items. First problem is with Apache. I get the test page to load just fine. The biggest problem for me is with this new X httpdconf configurator. Seems like you don’t get to define enough stuff. I can not get my default page to load without typing in index.html or index.htm. If I simply browse to the main URL for my site I constantly get the test page. Thinking I screwed up the install I went ahead and reinstalled Redhat. So this time I did not install the X htppdconf configurator. Not sure if that’s good/bad. Now the only thing I need to figure out do I still use /etc/httpd/conf to edit the Apache config? I need some help on this one. I even bought a Linux Redhat 9 for dummies book, and it seems worthless. The second problem is how to install the module for PHP for Apache. I installed it to best of my knowledge during the install as I check marked all PHP items. But I know it doesn’t load the Apache PHP module for some retarded reason. I am VERY frustrated and would appreciate ANY help as I spent a good 7 hrs last night trying to fix this issue.
Thanks in advance, and hope to hear from someone soon. |
