I think your question is a little to generic, and you should be asking a
Solaris mailing list on how Solaris works.
Myself, refuse to get into these "which is better arguments" without you
telling me your requirements. In my opinion, there is not "one OS that's
better than another", but "one OS

This is unlikely to be anything to do with linux, rather more likely,
either your BIOS (some of them have a 'virus warning feature'), or, your
actual Virus Checking software needs to update its image of the Boot
Sector..

How about 'host '
e.g.
[rimmer@postoffice rimmer]$ host calvin.nu

I've ask this in the SPARC list, but as the discussion could have taken place
here, I'll ask:
How does Solaris work internally, and why should I think that Linux is better
(on SPARC or INTEL).
Thanks

What is your eth0 device? Did you compile it into the kernel? Did you make
it a module? If you did make it a module, be sure you did a "make modules"
and a "make modules_install" after compiling the kernel or the modules will
not be there!

Check your BIOS and turn off the Virus detection there. It is not TRUE
virus detection, but simply checking for a MBR signature outside of what it
knows (i.e. MS stuff).
