I renamed apt-listbugs in /sbin/ but this didn't work. Partial upgrade
fails noting possible transient issues and/or problems with running the

Most Windows users expect to be able to rename by clicking the file
name. And since most computer users right now are Windows users, it
would wise to cater to some of the things they are used to. Unless, of

Also, this features is NOT annoying.
I have a similar problem.
Hardware is a new Dell Vostro 1520 with Broadcom 4312 wireless card.
9.04 installed and the wireless network connection worked fine. It was using
the wl driver.
I did an update and now the wireless is disabled in Network Manager. Right
clicking Network Manager shows
And I should add that the wireless no longer works with the original
kernel (2.6.28-11-generic) either - Network Manager still has wireless
disabled/greyed

Had the same problem. It is *not* a bug. It is caused by the add-on
"AdBlock". If you disable it, or add an exception filter for
manhunt.net, your problem will be resolved.

For anyone who runs across this problem: I had the same issue. It turns
out that it was because I was using Synergy (the keyboard / mouse sync
app) and this machine wasn't the computer with the devices connected to
it. It was screwing up the update events.
If you're using Synergy, turn it off.

3. Restricted driver modules
1. made no difference - wireless network was still OK (expected)

I did a bit of a search for i8042 boot options and tried setting
i8042.reset and it appears to have made a difference. Will add it to
menu.lst and see if it is consistent.

I have libsoup2.2.8 version 2.2.93-0ubuntu1 installed, it's in updates i
guess. When you install the new rhythmbox through apt it will update the
libsoup package as a dependency so i don't think that's a problem. Or
maybe (if it's possible) the new rhythmbox has to be compiled on a fresh
dapper ins

I had a similar problem with Ubuntu 7.10 x86_64 on Rythembox and
disabling Crossfader cleared up the issue with m4a playback.

Sorry, I worded that poorly. When setting up a computer, there's the 20
or so things you apt-get install to get what you consider a "usable"
environment. Firefox was one of those: I just used run-of-the-mill
"apt-get install" and don't remember if it installed it new or not
(probably not, as like

I was able to get into the system by choosing the original OS install

The uid is the user ID which is always 1000 for the current user
The gid is the users group ID and it is always 1000 for the default
group the user is in.

Unstable releases are a feature of every distribution I've heard of,
including Ubuntu.

Thank you, everyone for your comments. I had two hangs. Installing
krb5-config stopped one, adding an /etc/hosts entry for the client on
the host stopped the other one.

i installed dhcp3-server and firestarter.
In the wizard it is not possible to setup the local network but this can be set
in preferences later.

I appreciate your follow up on this problem. The problem existed
with kernel 2-6-15.27, but went away when I updated to kernel 2-6-17.10
(which I'm using now).
