I have a similar problem. Hardware is a new Dell Vostro 1520 with Broadcom 4312 wireless card.
9.04 installed and the wireless network connection worked fine. It was using the wl driver. I did an update and now the wireless is disabled in Network Manager. Right clicking Network Manager shows the wireless interface is disabled and greyed out. The wl drivers are loaded and iwconfig sees a wireless interface on eth1. If I 'modprobe -r wl' to unload the wl driver then Network Manager has no wireless details visible. Loading wl again returns the greyed out view to NM I have repeated this process and it is consistent. -- After upgrading to 9.04 broadcom wireless no longer connects and firefox and graphics behaving strangely, everything worked fine with 8.10.
