Right, I see where the problem with this lies now. I indeed had ATI's
drivers installed in Breezy, which is where the directory
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri with its contents might have appeared, and
they were never removed when I removed them in Dapper.

Here is the output of lspci -vvnn on my computer. It's from the 256GB version
of the samsung NVMe.
On my systems I've never had any corruption problems, even moving large (60GB+)
VM files and installing OS on ext4 multiple times. Currently running stock LM
