Oh, forgot to mention that this did not happen when I was using Kubuntu

and that when I first installed Kubuntu 8.10 alpha 6 it was working

I can also confirm that stopping either kded4 or the Detecting RANDR

stops working when this service is disabled? I'm guessing KDE won't be
able to detect new monitors and maybe I wouldn't be able to use an

Title:
ffmpeg can't find libx264 encoder in Ubuntu 11.04

I imagine this is a packaging issue or have I failed to install the
correct packages to make a X264 encoding?
I found solutions on the Web that installed ffmpeg from the sources, but
I really don't want to do that. I think that the DEB packages should
work. They used to work in Ubuntu Maverick.

When I open nautilus, it consumes almost 100% cpu and so does unity-
panel-service. Nautilus takes at least 20 seconds to respond to any
command (change folder, expand folder tree, etc.), taking the cpu to
100% each time.
I don't know how to run unity-panel-service through strace. I tried

Since the other bug that I commented on was marked as a duplicate of
this one, I wanted to report my problem here as well. It's a big issue,
I think even bigger than pressing F10 and then left, because nautilus
has become useless for me and I have to do all my file operations on the
console now.

The nautilus bug I reported on my comment was *not* fixed by the
released version.

I turned my computer off yesterday and when I turned it back on this
morning the problem persists. I'll use ubuntu-bug to submit a new issue,
since it's not related to the F10 problem. Thanks!

Public bug reported:
I suspended the system, then turned the computer back on and apport had
identified a Kernel error and asked me to report. This has happened the
last 3 times I suspended Ubuntu, so my guess is that it is repeatable.
This was not happening two days ago.

This bug was bothering me too much and because of other (unrelated)
reasons I decided to reinstall Ubuntu 11.04. After I reinstalled I did
an apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade and rebooted. After the system
was restarted the problem did not present itself.
I will check if it comes back as I ins

I finally found out the issue! It turns out it has something to do with
xdg-user-dirs.
When Ubuntu was first installed, it created the usual xdg-user-dirs such
as Desktop, Documents, Downloads, etc. etc. It also creates a Templates
folder, for which I have no use. However, I like the little icon i
