After a lot of experimenting I found that using just "noirqbalance" in
the boot params worked 3.0.x kernel, also with USB set to "high speed"
in bios.

Glen Ramsay, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. This
bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently.
We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please perform at

Been having this problem for years on my Shuttle SN78SH7 too (this model

Hello together!
I could also SOLVE my problem, even without any changes to the bios ACPI

I did two things:
1. Adding a kernel option: I added the following line to

Trying again I was able to eliminate the problem by disabling the option in the
bios ACPI APIC.
With this disabled, the mouse never stop, if detachment / reattachment usb

I have been trying to isolate this bug on my MSI K9N2GM-FIH for months
and as most people know that have similar problems, there are at least 3
and maybe more different types of freezing/lockups being reported.
This bug report symptoms by Glen Ramsay is EXACTLY the same as mine,
effecting both 10.
Iam having the same issue on a dell Dimension computer that I installed
10.04 on. The only difference is that I dont see any errors in the
system logs. Mouse freezes with no particular action taken to make it
freeze. Its just a random thing.
I have tried the acpi=force irqpoll suggestion found in
Same issue. Using 2.6.36 mainline.
Will test noapic nolapic acpi=force irqpoll
