I apologize, I tested some more and found out, that it is actually
related to the browser putting its data not into RAM but on my SD-Card
(which serves as harddrive replacement) and is very slow, it seems that
for an unrelated reason (I yet have to find out) it slowed down. Putting

Installed the compat-wireless package (from end of May). It now takes minutes
instead of seconds to connect to the wireless network (and therefore several
manual retrials) - error message is simple try1-3 and then timeout.

I think I have found the one pdf that is actually responsible for
choking evince-thumbnailer (regardless wether with gksudo nautilus or
normal nautilus - but normal nautilus already had choked once on it and
afterwards it seems to know, that it has failed on that file and evince-
thumbnailer does n

gksudo nautilus
(and I have used this method the last time, this problem ocurred). This time I
managed to kill evince-thumbnailer after a few minutes of unresponsive desktop
and tried to make a test-case by moving the pdf files to diff
It actually might be a problem with the pdf files in the folder, because
they were the only ones, which had the -still creating preview- circles
in them.

I am running the Ubuntu Karmic RC with all patches till today applied.
When I accessed a folder in nautilus, suddenly the whole system became
unresponsive (like mouse only moved about every five seconds), the disk was

With PulseAudio, Alsa and OSS the sound is stuttering like hell, nothing
is understandable or even listenable. It can mostly only identified as
noise :(

Now after another restart, tracker gave a short note about an invalid
index and started all over again. With all the bugs it has right now,
sadly for me it is completely unusable, since it does not completely
build the index and the index gets corrupted after a normal restart of

After a restart, first tracker gave the info it had finished indexing all files
withing 1 and a half minutes, when I checked the statistics, it had zero in all
entries and now it started indexing all over again. Something really seems to
be broken here.

ath5k for now and hope this gets fixed in time - otherwise people will
not believe when I tell them how much more stable linux is than MS

Is there some more information I can provide to help fix this? The
kernel crash messages still appear, sometimes I have to click 16 times
for them to finally go away, which really is quite annoying.
