Thank you, Jeremy. I am now using the following kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.37-rc2-maverick/ [ 0.000000] Linux version 2.6.37-020637rc2-generic (r...@zinc) (gcc version 4.2.3 (Ubuntu 4.2.3-2ubuntu7)) #201011160905 SMP Tue Nov 16 10:15:47 UTC 2010
Was this the right version or should I try another? Now using this kernel, I still have the same long waiting time - see below the 'dmesg | grep -i ata1' output: [ 1.305426] ata1: SATA max UDMA/133 cmd 0x1f0 ctl 0x3f6 bmdma 0x1810 irq 14 [ 6.344065] ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0) [ 11.328063] ata1: device not ready (errno=-16), forcing hardreset [ 16.524061] ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0) [ 21.340064] ata1: SRST failed (errno=-16) [ 26.536065] ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0) [ 31.352065] ata1: SRST failed (errno=-16) [ 36.548062] ata1: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0) [ 66.396064] ata1: SRST failed (errno=-16) [ 71.424061] ata1: SRST failed (errno=-16) [ 71.424107] ata1: reset failed, giving up I am attaching the full dmesg as txt file, in case something important is in there as well. ** Attachment added: "dmesg.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/669023/+attachment/1752167/+files/dmesg.txt ** Tags removed: needs-upstream-testing -- boot screen takes about 90 seconds between grub and seeing the boot logo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669023 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
