Varnish uses jemalloc. After recent updates, Varnish would not start any
longer. I turns out to be /proc/cpuinfo deadlock in jemalloc.
I am not sure what has changed on the server, but I assume it is related

I failed to reproduce this with following
1. Ubuntu Hardy Heron Beta
2. Guided partition, use full disk
3. English language
4. Finland - Finland keyboard
Machine:
PS/2 keyboad
Old AMD 2600 XP processor
After the initial boot the keyboard was working ok.

After a boot Places menu shortcuts where gone and bookmarks in nautilus
were corrupted. All bookmarks are gone for good. I assume gconf registry
gets corrupted due to unclean boot and it's unable to

I triaged the problem
It was caused by LC_CTYPE=fi_FI.UTF-8 when LANG=en_US.UTF-8. LC_CTYPE
was set in /etc/environment.
I am not familiar with LC_CTYPE, but I assume it deals with character
conversion somehow. This setting caused problems in Eclipse, which
opened files as ANSI instead of UTF-8 t
This is 100% repeatable. This is OpenOffice related problem, since it
seems to depend OpenOffice internal file functions.
I am using en_US locale on Ext3 file system.
Looks like OpenOffice titlebar filename is also garbage (unfiltered
UTF-8) when you open file åäö.odf.
