Public bug reported: Currently advanced options, like enabling TV out and choosing primary display can be only done in driver specific configuration binaries (nvidia-settings). Until Screen resolution preference dialog gains support for these kind of options (or will it ever?) Jockey could suggest installing nvidia-settings package when the proprietary driver is selected.
The sad state of the things is that for enable TV-out the user has to Google with various keywords (nvidia tv out). There is nothing in Ubuntu itself which hints how to do this - TV out is a very common operations nowadays. The first search hits about nvidia TV out refer to instructions from 2005 how to hack your X.org. These instructions are very deprecated and NVidia Settings has a sane GTK powered configuration tool. Jockey, as it already is very helpful, could give the user some suggestion how to push forward to configure his/her proprietary drivers. ** Affects: jockey (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Jockey should propose installing nvidia-settings and corresponding ATI package https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229073 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
