When I try to dial out to my isp with kppp it dials ,connects and makes
all the funny noises, but then I get the message -
" timeout expired while waiting for the ppp interface to come up "
and then it fails.
If I use kppp thru a console I see the following message also -
" couldn't fin
I had PPP working with the PERSIST=yes in the ifcfg-ppp0 file running
7.0 and everything was fine. I upgraded to 7.1 and it seems the PERSIST
feature is not working?

Upon installing RH 7.0, I went straight to rp3
and set up my PPP connection. It seemed to all go fine, and I booted up Red Hats
PPP Dialer. The 'waiting to connect' dialog comes up briefly, but then, alas,
nothing happens.

Try to put this in your /etc/conf.modules file:
# let modprobe find the ppp modules
alias ppp-compress-21 bsd_comp
alias ppp-compress-24 ppp_deflate
alias ppp-compress-26 ppp_deflate

Not exactly what your asking, but why not bind "/sbin/ifup ppp0"
and "/sbin/ifdown ppp0" to keyboard shortcuts? That would seem to
be much easier...well that is the way I like it.
