Hi Leston,
Without being able to guarantee it, I think your problem is that under
UNIX/Linux you have to be on line when configuring Internet stuff. This means
you have to connect to your provider first and start Netscape only when the
connection is established. Only then you'll be able to make it accept your ISP's
news and mail server. Note that if you start Netscape before the connection is
made, Netscape won't recognize the connection being made afterwards.
Hope this helps.
However, I tryed Communicator (we're talking about that one and not Netscape 3,
right!?) and wouldn't advice it. Too "massive". Takes hours before it loads,
freezes frequently, the Composer is the crummiest piece of software I've ever
seen and the whole package has the same bugs as the Win version. The porting has
been done "properly": They ported all the bugs to Linux too! If you have some
money to spend, spend it on ApplixWare if you have to mail under X-Windows.
ApplixMAIL is a neat piece of software and works quite well. It interacts well
with your system mailbox - the one where your mail is stocked when downloading
it with fetchmail - and imports it without problems. This would allow you for
example to use Pine and ApplixMAIL.
Good luck,
Zoki.

Due to a new Micro$oft move against basic decency and common sense (release of
Windows 98), I feel obliged to inform you about the following:
This message is brought to you by Linux (2.0.31) and Pine, a text based UNIX
e-mail client... As you can see, Linux will not byte you! Give it a try and
install it next to Windows for the time being. Total cost of this operation:
Red Hat 5.0 or S.u.S.E. 5.2 OS + Applixware 4.3 Office Suite = 590Ffr.($ 97,-)
or Caldera OpenLINUX 1.2 + Star Office Suite 4 = 675Ffr. ($ 111,-)
Pine e-mail client = 0Ffr. ($ 0,-)
GIMP (Photoshop equivalent) = 0Ffr. ($ 0,-)
How much did you pay for Windows 95!? And NT 4!??
So, where do you want to go tomorrow? Maybe to your local shop to get Linux!!?
