If you are using more the 2^16 number as a port it will take the
(your_port_number)mod 2^16
So always it will be less than 2^16. This will be applicable with any
kernel above 2.0.x I believe.

These users will have the ability to store attachments, etc.. very similiar
to what Yahoo does. Without UID's, you get into file ownership problems,
etc...

The security by router is not as good as Linux. Cisco sells a different
box (PIX) for firewall functionality. You can give yourself basic
security by the cisco router. In most cases this will be sufficient.

Not sure if you want to pay or not but Aventail has a beta UNIX client that
I downloaded the other day from an internal IBM site. Haven't managed to
spend any time on it yet but planning on it in the near future.

we here at work have one machine that is doing both the pop3 and the smtp.
