Not true. Odd releases aren't beta, that is.
Odd minor numbers on the kernel (1.3, 2.1, 2.3, etc.) indicate
development releases. Red Hat 5.1 just happens to be the release
between 5.0 and 5.2. 6.1 came between 6.0 and 6.2, etc. If you
look at the history of Red Hat major releases, the ".0" release
tends to be the *most* "beta" of any of them. The .1 release
is, in general terms, a more robust version of the .0 product.
Then the .2 product is the most solid and tends to stay around for
quite a while, often times surviving until the next .2 release shows
up.
