Go into setup, set the port, baud rate, parity, etc.  Then go to the modem
setup and cleat out all the modem strings.  Also make sure you set "has
dcd" to no. If you forget this, it may not talk to your equipment.  Set
flow control to what ever your equipment likes.

Com1 is normaly /dev/ttyS0 in Linux.

When you have everything working the way you want it, save the comfig file
with a nice name, so you can leave the default setup talking to your
modem.
