so i also tested to include poppler2 manually in an html file in addition to
bootstrap.js (without bundle) and then the dropdown works.
So the bundle is apparently broken because popper isnt really bundled, but to
fix it, popper2, not 1 needs to be included. Either in the package or by
adding
confirming this for unstable and backports 5.3.3 versions and also the
bookworm 5.2.3 version.
I also tested if the behaviour matches the upstream binary, e.g. from
https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/npm/bootstrap@5.3.3/dist/js/bootstrap.bundle.min.js

I checked, and got the reply that not this, but another fix of the "long
domain names problem" in xendomains has been incorporated in xen
unstable - see the bugzilla report.

could it be that the bug is rather fixed because you increase the number
of characters cut checks for the domain name?
You mix in your patch some complex logic to determine stuff with the
minor change of setting these characters up to 40.

I tracked down this problem:
as we removed HOST in the main fai script, we also removed the line in
fai-class which checked id HOST is set, and only if not, it set the
HOSTNAME from uname.
Now, always HOSTNAME is newly exported , even in dirinstall(where,
before, HOST way set), which makes the HO

around the HOST and HOSTNAME variables done in the first days of debcamp
between 10th and 20th of june 2007

HOST/HOSTNAME handling should be better documented and
