When testing this to install rhel on a debian host via dirinstall, I realized some more is to be done: Holgers patch is enough when only running softupdate on a non-debian host. But, when the target distribution is not debian, while the host is debian, we also don't want to run all the apt stuff, and don't need these perl libs.
