[Bug 267376] Re: [intrepid] Package OpenOffice.org 3.0 for Backports
Chris: The problem between openoffice 3.1 and language-support package is still there, despite new OOo packages have been uploaded. So I wasn't able to test them since i dont wanna lose translations in my other apps. [Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item
Well, nobody does something to fix this bug. As a summary, the workakound is to install the mouse gestures as recommended, but in fact there seem to be a bug in the firefox 3 code, so the menu should not be released when the right button is pressed, it should be showed when it is released. In order to fix the bug temporarily there might be a package compilated disabling this behavior (and so, the menu would be showed when the right button is released), and this package might be used by people who experience this bug (I guess everybody) or backported for intrepid and hardy. -- [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item
Alexander, I agree with everyone that says that disabling accessibility is not a workaround. In my case it was never enabled. Installing MouseGestures solved the problem for me. I understand that this is not a true fix for the problem but changing the behavior for Firefox right click through a patch instead of installing MouseGestures would be a way to calm down the frustration of users that already have noticed this bug but haven't reported yet because many users (the most I guess) don't know how to solve their problems through launchpad or irc (otherwise this bugreport would be a thousand times longer) . What I propose is to release a package with this workaround and make people who have this problem get informed that can install that package (maybe through ubuntu webpage as a known issue). I propose this just because as others have said before, Firefox is the default webbrowser in ubuntu and webbrowsing is an important task in a desktop, so the first impression that a new ubuntu user can have might be so frustrating that it would prevent him to consider ubuntu linux as an alternative to his actual OS, and the importance of this bug should be consider critical. This just as a workaround until you reach to a real solution. -- [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187313 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 334593] Re: documentation not accessible from yelp
I can confirm that yelp can't access to documentation other than of gnome, for example if you perform a search and then yelp shows search results from docs that are not gnome specific (i.e. I installed the Debian mantainer's manual) and if you intend to access to any of the links that yelp shows it will show an error "the file can't be read, maybe the file is missing or you don't have permission to read it" despite I can browse through nautilus to the folder where it is (/usr/share/doc/../index.html). It happens with many other documentation, not only with that manual, for example: file:///usr/share/doc/nano/faq.html# file:///usr/share/doc/libglib2.0-doc/glib/index.html# etc, to reproduce, make a search like with a word like "debian" and make click in some content not gnome specific. After updating to OOo 3.1.0-3ubuntu2-intrepid1 from the PPA for OOo scribblers, this behaviour is still present, So it has nothing to do with the OOo l10n package. In the spanish version of OOo when pulse Ctrl-e it is supposed to select all text, but instead of that, the text get centered what is supposed to be assigned to Ctrl-t, when pulse Crtl-t the action is to center the text, so the problem is with the "select all" shortcut. [Bug 395650] [NEW] OpenOffice 3.1 Impress force to open a png or jpg file with OpenOffice Draw instead of Eye of Gnome
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openoffice.org In OOo impress 3.1, when opening a png or jpg file from a link (created with the interaction option in the presentation menu) in presentation mode will open that png or jpg file with openoffice Draw instead of Eye of Gnome although png and jpg files are set to be open with Eye of gnome. This is a regression since it was possible to open those files from OOo impress in presentation mode with EOG by default. To reproduce, create a blank presentation, add an object (maybe a circle) then select it and go to the presentation>interaction menu, choose to open a document and select a png or jpg file in your hard disk, finally press F5 (presentation mode) and it will open with OOo Draw, which is not what we want when performing a presentation. [Bug 187313] Re: [MASTER] right click (with button release) might activate random popup-menu-item
After updating to FF 3.0.10, I can't install mouse gestures. the plug-in seems to be installed but when trying to configure it ask to restart FF, if i restart FF, it ask it again and again when i try to configure, so it is never properly installed because it seems to assume that FF has not been restarted. The random behaviour does not disappear at all because the plugin is not installed properly. Already tried purging and reinstalling FF. So mouse gestures is not a workaround any more. This bug is really annoying and the reaction that the community has showed against it is very poor, more than 1 year and no solution, despite there are already the way of getting a patch or something like that. We are waiting until the official FF release fix this bug. Three releases of ubuntu involved with this annoying bug in the default browser. I really hope that the community reacts faster in the future just because this is not gonna be the last time we have a bug like this. I believe the main reason people turn to use Ubuntu is because of the usability and the updated software, so the community also should react faster to bugs like this and provide a patch for ubuntu or something and not only wait until the solution is included in the code of an official release. Ill wait to 3.0.11 (hoping that the fix not be put back again) and downgrade to 3.0.9 if it is possible, but I'm really disappointed with this kind of bureaucracy. i have the same card, i download the snapshot from madwifi page (see ticket 1192 and follow the links), compile it following the steps from madwifi "first time how to". its important that you blacklist ath5k, otherwise ath5k module will load preventing ath_pci work properly, obviously the ath_pci module you will be using is that one from snapshot because the one from restricted modules will be uninstalled (see the madwifi how to). The last madwifi snapshot works just fine, but sometimes has breakages, but i think that for this card is more stable than ath5k at this point. I also tested the last ath5k from linux wireless compat , but some random error occur, sometimes the card sttoped working and the card led didn't turn on (which scared me) and it didn't work after rebooting and starting again with windows. Is this bug related to this other? https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/270798 well as far as I have noticed, in my laptop TOSHIBA a215s4767 with intrepid fully updated, AMD turion 64 X2, ATI x1200, 2GB RAM, it happens wit ubuntu kubuntu, 32 bits and 64 bits, well I got rid of it by disabling APIC support at boot, adding this option to the kernel line in grub: noapic. but I have realized that when I execute some opengl appication (the ones who caused hpet increasing min_delta... as the bug I linked), the video gets some slow, like it reduced the fps. but the hpet and the APIC error on CPUs messages disappeared. In fact I am working now without the noapic option on my 64 bits intrepid, and i get eventually some lockups and the hpet increasing message, and a bunch of APIC error on CPUs messages, but I can live with it. [Bug 350946] Re: Ubuntu 9.04 beta desktop fails to boot from usb-stick
I guess it would be a kernel related problem?, I have tried creating the bootable usb from Intrepid usind usb-creator, also tried on jaunty (on a virtual machine with usb support), after that tried to do it deleting the partition and forcing usb-creator to format and also selecting "discard settings on shutdown". [Bug 1896644] [NEW] Dual screen window size problem
Public bug reported: Certain programs don't seem to co-operate well with a dual monitor setup. If it is of any importance, my setup is a laptop with a TV plugged in via HDMI. Until todayI thought the webbrowser (and ALL the webapps) on Ubuntu 14.10 desktop were unusable - copy and paste is essential. [Bug 1366230] [NEW] Whitespace causes random character deletions
Public bug reported: Frustrating bug that has been around since I started dogfooding ubuntu on my nexus 4 - somwhere around the 180 image mark. Am currently running devel-proposed 223 on mako. Have tested this in multiple apps, including the default Notes, Quick Memo, Touchwriter - all have the same issue. Typing and deletion work fine initally, until I create an empty line - see below for an example: Example--- Here I'm typing a usual line... about to make a space Here I'm typing after the space, etc. ---End Example-- When I go back to edit the first line, as soon as I delete characters at the end of the line, the line below jumps up, and deletes a number of those characters. See below for the example: Example--- Here I'm typing a usual line... about to make ae I'm typing after the space, etc. ---End Example-- This makes storing notes on the device, and any editing with the keyboard, extremely difficult. I notice this only seems to happen when there is whitespace in between lines - otherwise keyboard is fine. I'm filing this report as a keyboard bug, as it's the only linking thread I can see between these programs. ** Affects: ubuntu-keyboard (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: avengers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1366230 Title: Whitespace causes random character deletions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-keyboard/+bug/1366230/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1379738] [NEW] Ubuntu-sdk fails to restart unity8 dash when installing an app
Public bug reported: This happens when trying to install an app on my nexus 4 handset (mako) running Ubuntu Touch RTM 4. [Bug 1379836] Re: dialer and messaging app show unlocked pin as locked
Under RTM 5 on Mako, I'm having the same bug, and I managed to PUK lock my phone. Found another work-around: Firstly, I had not set a sim pin, and settings showed this wasn't locked. After trying to 'unlock' my pin three times unsucessfully, I was asked for my PUK code. SIM was screwed, basically. Was able to search for the PUK code for Telstra, and found a site where I could enter my details and retrieve it. If you are with Telstra in Australia, you can find this under My Account. Once entering this, I found I could then choose a pin. Now each time I reboot I need to enter this pin and all is fine. I tried unsetting this however, and got the same problem again - sim was locked while saying it was not, etc. Was only able to resolve it by entering the WRONG pin three times, reentering my PUK code, then setting my pin again. Bug seems to be that pin lock needs to stay on for now. Anyway, have downgraded ofono package on my device in case I need to downgrade in a hurry. I don't think it matters, but I'm using Intrepid server. ** Affects: ncurses (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ncurses screen terminal.app xterm xterm-color -- ncurses merge w/Debian request to fix xterm-color terminfo entry for use with screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300760 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 302935] [NEW] foomatic-rip fails
Public bug reported: Printing to my Brother HL-5140 printer has not been working since the Intrepid upgrade. Under Hardy and previous versions it was fine. Now I am getting a foomatic-rip failed message when I attempt to print. [Bug 389045] Re: Playlist stops after only one song is played
I just remembered that I'm having a problem with mysql-server-5.0 in which the install won't complete due to libhtml-template-perl; therefore mysqld wont load. I still filed the bug because it seems as though amarok no longer uses mysql by default. -- Playlist stops after only one song is played https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/389045 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to amarok in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
