[Bug 22494] Re: Incorrect wireless access point detected - no way to override
I recently installed Hardy Heron and hoped this bug was gone. But it is still there. My computer always connects to the wrong (open) accesspoint on startup. Using the network tool I can restart the interface and then it connects (most of the times but not always) to the correct accesspoint. My workaround up to now is to disable the network on my laptop during startup and than enable it when logged in. Than it connects (most of the times) to the correct accesspoint. I hope this info helps solving it because it is really annoying because when you forget to disable the wireless interface on startup, the startup will take a very long time. [Bug 243567] Re: breakpoints do not work in kdevelop
I had this 'bug' as well. Looking better at the output of the configure script I saw that some symbols were missing, especially AM_PROG_LIBTOOL. Looking this up on the web it appeared that I did not install libtool. After installing libtool the breakpoints do seem to work properly. This is quite annoying for users that start using kdevelop for the first time and have no or little experience with automake and friends, because they will oversee this installation error: everything looks like it works fine, the errormessage is scrolled out of view very fast, and configure ends with "*** Sucess ***". I suggest setting breakpoints in Kdevelop without the possibility of using them should result in an error message in the messages window like: "libtool not found ==> breakpoint not effective". -- breakpoints do not work in kdevelop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/243567 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Upgrading to a non-LTS version has it's downsides, and I have read reports of people that experience the same problems after upgrading up to 17.04. I now installed an Intel version of the 21.20.16.4590 driver for Windows 10 from the Lenovo website, but it's actually not meant for the P50 laptop with Intel P530 graphics but for the X260 and T460 instead with Intel P520 graphics: http://pcsupport.lenovo.com/nl/en/downloads/ds105823. [Bug 1577188] [NEW] flex contains bug not in official 2.6.0
Public bug reported: Hi, The Ubuntu flex package claims to be 2.6.0, but it contains a bug that is solved in the flex 2.6.0 sources at sourceforge ( https://sourceforge.net/projects/flex/files/ ). [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor
I have the same problem. Mouse flickering on two of my three screens. I have two video-cards, both ATI HD6770 (Not in cross-fire). One card is only connected to one monitor, the other is connected with two monitors. Only on the vga-card connected with two monitors, the mouse cursor flickers. I am using MATE desktop and it started when using hardware acceleration on desktop. Switching hardware acceleration off, clears the problem. But I wanted transparent terminals and all the other fancy stuff. So after installing ccm (Compiz configuration manager) and playing around with it, I can fix the problem very simple. BUT, only until I reboot the system. Then I have to do the same thing over again. I have to go to ccm. Click on the opengl settings. Disable Framebuffer object. And then immediately enable it. [Bug 1490905] [NEW] all guides out there lead to configuration open to brute-force attacks

This is exactly what people expect to be solved with this package. [Bug 1491597] Re: brute force attack on password possible on many existing google-authenticator setups
Thanks for reporting back so fast. I live in the Netherlands, so we might have a bit of a time difference. Reviewed edits have been made already in the following pages: http://askubuntu.com/questions/159727/how-can-i-use-a-passcode-generator-for-authentication-for-remote-logins http://askubuntu.com/questions/193248/google-authenticator-for-desktop-lightdm-or-gdm-plugin But I do agree to your view that modifying PAM configurations automatically and without user interaction is extremely dangerous because it goes against user expectations and might indeed make matters worse. The package itself does not install any configuration in any pam.d modules like sshd or lightdm/gdm and I do not intend to change that either for the same reasons. Removing google-authenticator from the ubuntu and/or debian repository also effectively changes the security configuration. So there are a few options left: * warning users interactively at an update when they have google-authenticator installed * ring some bells at security authorities and tech media to alert people about this * Think, think, think. Hope you can help me with this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1491597 Title: brute force attack on password possible on many existing google- authenticator setups To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/google-authenticator/+bug/1491597/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1257082] Re: MAAS does not use NTP servers specified in DHCPD options
There has been no movment on the Debian bug report in about 6 months, and they appear to view ntpdate as legacy. SO I think we're faced with a decision: 1) Use ntpd -g instead, i.e. stop installing the ntpdate command and use the ntp package instead and fix startup options for NTP to include "-g" in preseed 2) Use the proposed preseed change by Dann. I feel #2 is better because if Debian is going to remove ntpdate at a later stage, they will include "-g" for ntpd by default, at which time we can simply remove our fix again. If we use #1 we might break things once Debian goes this route. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1257082 Title: MAAS does not use NTP servers specified in DHCPD options To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1257082/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Unattended installs such as juju, maas, etc are all affected for anyone who is working behind a proxy. This is the case for most enterprise environments where such maas and juju setups will be tested out, and as such has great repercussions for Canonical as a viable supplier of OpenStack environments: if your product fails to install, you're not going to get the business. Considering that: * The setting to use already exists in /etc/apt/apt.conf and that all other tools use this correctly * The serious impact of this issue for downstream projects and Debian usage in the enterprise * The long time this issue has been standing and has affected people I suggest that this either 1) be fixed, or 2) the apt-key and add-apt-repository programs are renamed so that it is made clear they are not part of the APT suite of programs and therefor cannot be trusted to behave as if they were part of APT. ** Affects: software-properties (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1433761 Title: apt-key and add-apt-repository don't honor Acquire::http::Proxy To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1433761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 998651] Re: Unable to enter password to decrypt harddisk after upgrading to ubuntu 12.04
Hello Fabio, Bug 993827 does not describe the same case. Logitech K520 mouse and keyboard combo also makes use of the Logitech Unifying Receiver, but the keyboard and the mouse work perfectly when I'm at the login screen of Ubuntu. But, before I get to the login screen I need to decrypt my harddisk first. Since Ubuntu 12.04 I need (1) plugin another keyboard (standard usb keyboard), (2) type my password to decrypt my harddisk, then the OS starts. When I get to the login screen I can use my wireless K520 keyboard without any problems to login into Ubuntu. This is quite frustrating, because every time I restart Ubuntu I need to plugin another keyboard (not wireless in my case) before I can continue. Can you help, something has been changed, because it worked perfectly in 11.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998651 Title: Unable to enter password to decrypt harddisk after upgrading to ubuntu 12.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/998651/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 832137] Re: Need to fix bugs causes compiling error. One is related to Open Sound System Emuration. The other is caused by patches.
Your bug report does not entirely correspond to my experience, using the Alsa-Ubuntu source available available below. At point 2-1 you mention the files below are to be edited. However, the first does not seem to exist in that directory but only in the one below. The second is only created after the package is configured. /include/linux/pci_ids_compat.h /include/linux/i2c_id.h Your cure does correspond to my experience. However, it needs to be applied to the files mentioned below. Thereafter the compile fails as described in your bug-report at 2-2 which does correspond to my experience. include/pci_ids_compat.h.in include/i2c-id_compat.h.in Source package Alsa-Ubuntu: http://www.voyage.hk/dists/0.7/alsa-driver/alsa-source_1.0.24+dfsg-0ubuntu1_all.deb Regards -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/832137 Title: Need to fix bugs causes compiling error. [Bug 291808] [NEW] Realtek 8111B wired network goes down occasionally
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic Network has always been a bit flaky on this computer, from at least the early days of (k)ubuntu 8.04. In the last week or two it had gotten so bad that it spent 70% of it's time connecting. The (k)ubuntu 8.10 livecd did somewhat better spending about 10-20% of it's time connecting. The Current version of 8.10 disconnects once every 1-2 minutes. This is a clean install using the i386 livecd. dmesg shows "link down" and "link up" when it happens. Tried another cat cable, and the other computer on the same router doesn't have this issue. I suspect the network driver with it's seemingly poor history of frequent problems is still not entirely ok, but that is ofcource a guess at this point. [Bug 230036] Re: package console-setup 1.21ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade:
I probably had the same problem.
