Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-7-generic
Network has always been a bit flaky on this computer, from at least the early days of (k)ubuntu 8.04. In the last week or two it had gotten so bad that it spent 70% of it's time connecting. The (k)ubuntu 8.10 livecd did somewhat better spending about 10-20% of it's time connecting. The Current version of 8.10 disconnects once every 1-2 minutes. This is a clean install using the i386 livecd. dmesg shows "link down" and "link up" when it happens. Tried another cat cable, and the other computer on the same router doesn't have this issue. I suspect the network driver with it's seemingly poor history of frequent problems is still not entirely ok, but that is ofcource a guess at this point. If any further information is needed, then that can be provided. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Realtek 8111B wired network goes down occasionally https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/291808 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
