I experienced the does not resume after suspend problems with ubuntu 10.4.2 LTS on a lenovo thinkpad L420. I searched a lot and tried many things. The thing that seems to remove all problems for me is changing the quirks input in pm-suspend. I read the man page of pm-suspend, which was very helpful. Then I tried pm-suspend in the terminal with various quirk combination that seemed reasonable to me. I have a successful resume with: pm-suspend --quirk-dpms-on --quirk-radeon-off --quirk-s3-bios --quirk-s3-mode
