I tried the Bumblebee way again, this time in a more controlled way than
last time, but I didn't get any further. These were my steps:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install linux-source linux-headers-generic

sudo apt-get install bumblebee bumblebee-nvidia

sudo apt-get install nvidia-343 nvidia-settings nvidia-opencl-icd-343
nvidia-343-uvm nvidia-libopencl1-343 primus
sudo apt-get install nvidia-cuda-toolkit

Still when I do 'optirun darktable -d opencl' I get the following:

[opencl_init] trying to load opencl library: '<system default>'
[opencl_init] opencl library 'libOpenCL' found on your system and loaded
[opencl_init] could not get platforms: -1001
[opencl_init] FINALLY: opencl is NOT AVAILABLE on this system.
[opencl_init] initial status of opencl enabled flag is OFF.

I found an old posting in the list archives (
http://sourceforge.net/p/darktable/mailman/message/31062396/) that
indicates a bug in the driver. In that case it was the 304 driver, and the
poster was recommended to use a newer driver. Now I am using the 343
driver, which is the latest. Can it be true that Nvidia still hasn't fixed
this?

Also, isn't there any manual way to fix this platform thing?
