Well, if this works it is definately an option to consider. It will not be the perfect solution for me, though. First of all the nvidia drivers don't show in the drivers manager in Mint. Maybe they do in Ubuntu. I might try to change the distro, but I was not too happy about Ubuntu when I left it for Mint a few years ago. Too much hassle with installing additional codecs, dvd support and so on. Secondly I would prefer the Bumblebee route, so I can use integrated graphics on non-OpenCL stuff and save power on battery. But I really appreciate your suggestion and I'll keep it in mind!
