Only someone who has actually used both NVidia packages would be able to
confirm your "conclusion".  I rather doubt the conclusion is accurate but
trying another video driver would certainly be prudent, whether the bin
directly from NVidia or another rpm version.  Neither is very difficult. 
Have you tried?
