Hi I couldn't help but notice the mentioning of OpenTree :)
The original idea of the project was to be an engine independent library. So it shouldn't be difficult to integrate the current OpenTree with CS or SL. In fact, I've even done it once for CS: http://opentreelib.sourceforge.net/misc/crystal004.jpg http://opentreelib.sourceforge.net/misc/crystal006.jpg http://opentreelib.sourceforge.net/misc/crystal008.jpg The main problem is that the generated trees have too many polygons. I tried to experiment with billboard clouds, but didn't get far: http://opentreelib.sourceforge.net/misc/low-poly-teaser01.jpg The problem here was that I couldn't get the render2texture right. In the screenshot above you see a generic texture used. I can only imagine how it would look if render2texture worked :) Unfortunately I'm quite busy irl and with other foss projects, so I don't have the time to continue with the project at the moment. I also lack the skills to implement shaders for windsway or the like. If you think it's worth anything, then instead of "re-implementing something similar to SpeedTree or OpenTree", I can give you access to the OpenTree project on SF. I'd be really happy to see this project come to life again, even if it's without me. - PK Scott Johnson wrote: > Has the foilage idea been on the Crystal Space SoC ideas page for a > while?
