Has the foilage idea been on the Crystal Space SoC ideas page for a 
while?  I seem to remember this is something we've talked about doing 
quite a bit.  If we're planning on doing a shared plugin, it might be 
worthwhile to work something up from scratch, rather than just wrapping 
an existing library.  For instance, perhaps re-implementing something 
similar to SpeedTree or OpenTree might be interesting.  We could then 
customize it to Second Life and Crystal Space's needs.
