I have had this problem since trying to install 8.10 (Ibex). 8.04(Hardy)
has worked fine for me, as far as drives are concerned. Basic low down
is this:
ASUS M2N-SLI board, AMD 64 with built in IDE and SATA controller.

So I tried the disk, and can get to the demo just fine. When I try to
install, I get through all the initial setup prompts, and after the last
step (username, etc..), it fails to load. It starts off, and shows the
disk partitioner starting up, just as that gets up to speed, the screen
goes
So - as of 4-13 updates, the problem seems to have gone away. I could
not get the gvfs error to come up again.
I completely reinstalled the system with the release candidate, then got
all updates and gnomad. Tried it again and still no error as far as gvfs
is concerned.

Looking at the 'mounted' Zen. It shows it's properties as a gphoto2
filesystem. Once again, the issue seems to be that gphoto2 is mounting
the Zen, which it should not be doing. It's not a camera or camera
device. It can handle pictures, but only for viewing, and is easily
loaded through Gnomad2.
This is/was part of another bug that I was having regarding the same
problem. Problem is that gphoto/gvfs shouldn't be grabbing hold of the
Zen players.

Gphoto2 tries to dock the Zen (which it shouldn't do), and after a while the

So, seems I get a quick startup error with the live CD. I attached the
syslog printouts. If you need more please tell me. Seems to boot up ok
for the most part, but crashes out when it starts the install. Screen
blanks out when partitioner starts to load system. Leaves the existing
install running

Just had Firefox close and throw out this error. I had just opened GTK-Gnutella
client, and while it was setting up, Firefox died. Has been a little weird in
Ethernet/Internet stability in general. Not sure what that is. Jaunty Alpha 4

I just got Alpha 5 running and had this error happen twice when attempting to
install an icon set. Appearance preferences is frozen, with tab on lower panel
that does nothing. Menus are unresponsive. If I log out and kill the appearance
settings, I can log back in and things seem ok...

Same problem here. I have 32 bit Jaunty Alpha 4 running and if I change
to any effects through the appearance manager,it says 'looking for
appropriate drivers (or something to that effect)' , the screen
flickers, and then no windows title, no minimize, maximize, close. The
buttons are still there,

today and everything looks ok. Full effects on now with title bar back in place.

I see a few errors coming from syslog, etc. regarding sound problems.
The problem I see is in the volume slider, in the upper desktop pull-
down menu. When I grab the slider and go up, it starts to jump and not

Sebastian - got valgrind installed, but couldn't figure out how to
attach it to whichever program to make it log... The wiki page is pretty
vague. I replaced with gvfsd-ghoto2 and it says 'command not
found'. Not sure what I need to do here to fire up valgrind.

if you could dumb down your explanation a bit more what do i need
to enter into the fields to enable valgrind. I
know what mv does, i've heard of wrappers, etc - but couldn't make one

So, came home and got all set up. Plugged in the Zen, and (of course), worked
as always and as expected, did not auto mount and cause the crash... So, at

I will hopefully get this tested tonite. The issue for me had to do with a
particular motherboard - ASUS m2nsli with Nvidia Bios. I think it was more of a
compatibility issue with the bios rather than a pulse audio issue. Either way,
I will test this and get back to you shortly.
